Step One: Set your goals.
There are few people in this world who can succeed without goals or plans. For the rest of us, having a plan is the best way to succeed in what we want. It makes no sense to persevere if you choose the wrong plan or no plan at all. By having a clear, defined strategy, you're more likely to strive to reach the finish line. This doesn’t mean all goals or tasks will be the right ones. At least when you have a plan, you have a reason to push forward.
Step Two: Create milestone goals.
One of the more acceptable ways is to start is to set high-level goals. Then define the tasks that it would take to accomplish them. Set milestones so that you can measure how you are doing at each step. It’s okay to make adjustments along the way, the key is to create a roadmap to keep on the right path. That is the best way to get to where you want to go.
Step Three: Persevere.
If you give up at any point, don’t beat yourself up too much. Either start over or, if possible, pick up where you left off. When you finally accomplish your goals and milestones, it will be that much more worth the effort. Some people don’t get back to their goals. Either they gave up too quickly, or the goals weren't clear and strong enough. If this happens, find out what you really want from your goals and if they are right for you. It is okay if they aren’t. Just make sure that you didn’t give up because it was the easier choice. You don’t want to live with regrets.
Step Four: Ask for help.
If you find you are constantly giving up, look into some outside help. This can either be as coaching, masterminds, or sometimes you may need to seek the advice of a counselor. This can help you break the barrier of quitting before reaching the finish line. A mentor or coach can give you guidance and may even help you define better goals. It could be you just weren’t following the right path for you.
